India on Monday strongly condemned the alleged defacement of its Embassy premises in Ljubljana, Slovenia, by anti-India elements and said it had called for action against those responsible.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stressed that diplomatic premises are inviolable under the Vienna Convention and must be safeguarded by the host country.
“We condemn the defacement of the premises of our Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia by anti-India elements,” the MEA said.
The ministry said it had raised the issue firmly with Slovenian authorities in both New Delhi and Ljubljana, urging them to identify those behind the incident and ensure that they are held accountable.
The MEA also called on law enforcement agencies in other countries to take note of what it described as “hateful propaganda and disinformation” being circulated by such groups.
Sources suggested that pro-Khalistani elements could have been involved in the incident.
