Jio claims that the Rs 299 deal would continue, but only if you make a one-year commitment: Details

Jio is reintroducing its Prime membership programme, this time with a new incentive for subscribers. The move comes shortly after Bharti Airtel removed several prepaid plans, including the Rs 299 recharge, as part of an effort to push customers towards more expensive options. Jio, meanwhile, has confirmed that it will continue offering the Rs 299 plan to both new and existing users.

However, there is a condition. Customers who want to secure the current prices of eligible Jio plans will need to sign up for Prime membership, which includes a one-year price guarantee.

The membership is priced at Rs 300 and is available to both prepaid and postpaid subscribers. According to Jio, the primary advantage is that members can continue recharging eligible plans at their current prices until September 5, 2027, even if the company increases tariffs during that period.

While Jio has confirmed the continuation of plans such as the Rs 299 recharge, Airtel has not yet clarified whether it intends to retain similar plans.

HOW JIO'S ONE-YEAR PRICE GUARANTEE WORKS

The new membership operates on a straightforward model. Users pay Rs 300 once and can continue purchasing eligible Jio plans at their existing prices throughout the price-guarantee period.

For instance, if a plan currently costs Rs 299 and Jio increases its price in the future, Prime members will still be able to recharge that eligible plan at Rs 299 during the guarantee period.

The main benefit, therefore, is not an immediate discount but protection against potential tariff increases.

Jio has specified that the guarantee applies only to eligible plans, meaning the membership does not freeze the price of every recharge available on its network.

WHAT ELSE DOES JIO PRIME OFFER?

Jio is also providing additional benefits as part of the membership.

Subscribers will receive cashback vouchers worth a total of Rs 600. One Rs 300 voucher can be used for a new JioHome or JioPC connection, while another Rs 300 voucher is available when a customer adds a new Jio SIM for a friend or family member.

Jio's Rs 299 prepaid plan currently provides 1.5GB of daily data for 28 days, along with access to JioHotstar, 5,000GB of JioCloud storage and Google Gemini Pro.

For customers who already depend on the Rs 299 recharge, its continuation means they can retain the same benefits without being forced to switch to a costlier plan.

Jio Prime membership can be purchased through the MyJio app, Jio.com, Jio Stores and authorised Jio partner outlets.
