A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan became involved in a heated confrontation inside a Delhi Metro coach after a woman accused him of photographing her.
The incident took place at AIIMS Metro Station and later escalated into a physical altercation. A video of the confrontation has since circulated widely on social media.
According to Metro Police sources, the incident occurred around 12.40 am on Sunday when passengers confronted the CISF personnel after a woman alleged that he had clicked her photographs inside the coach.
The woman questioned the jawan, who denied the allegation. However, the situation intensified after commuters reportedly found photographs of the woman in his phone gallery.
PASSENGERS ALLEGE PISTOL WAS POINTED AT THEM
Passengers demanded that the photographs be deleted, with the viral video showing commuters repeatedly asking the CISF jawan to remove the images.
As tensions increased, the jawan allegedly tried to leave the coach. Passengers stopped him, resulting in a scuffle inside the Metro train.
Some passengers alleged that during the confrontation, the CISF personnel pulled out his service pistol and pointed it at them before getting off the train onto the platform.
Metro Police, however, rejected the allegation and said no such incident involving the weapon had taken place.
The video of the confrontation has nevertheless triggered concerns over the altercation and the conduct of the CISF personnel.
CISF SUSPENDS JAWAN, ORDERS DEPARTMENTAL PROBE
CISF officials said the jawan has been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been launched into the incident.
Metro Police said officers reached the location after receiving a PCR call. However, the woman involved did not submit a formal complaint.
Police said they informed CISF authorities about the allegations raised by the woman and other passengers, who accused the jawan of photographing her without consent.
Further action will be determined based on the findings of the CISF inquiry and whether a formal complaint is subsequently filed.
