Nine countries, including Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Pakistan and Indonesia, on Sunday criticised Israel’s rejection of US President Donald Trump’s proposal for Gaza, warning that the move could undermine renewed efforts to end the war.
In a joint statement, the countries expressed opposition to Israel’s decision to reject the plan and said it risked weakening Trump’s intensified diplomatic push to bring the conflict in Gaza to an end.
The statement was issued collectively by five Arab nations along with Turkey, Pakistan and Indonesia. Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE joined Turkey, Pakistan and Indonesia in backing the continued diplomatic efforts and opposing Israel’s position on the proposed Gaza plan.
The joint condemnation came as international efforts to resolve the Gaza conflict continued. The countries warned that Israel’s rejection of Trump’s proposal could jeopardise attempts to bring the fighting to an end.
They reiterated their support for ongoing initiatives aimed at ending the conflict and formally placed their opposition to Israel’s rejection of the plan on record.
The joint stance brings together several influential Arab countries alongside Turkey, Pakistan and Indonesia in response to Israel’s position on Trump’s Gaza proposal.
