Jugraj Singh scored four goals, while Abhishek and Dilpreet Singh netted hat-tricks as India registered a commanding 16-1 victory over Sri Lanka in their second Pool A match at the Asian Games on Tuesday.
The win marked India's second consecutive victory in the tournament after they began their campaign with a 13-1 demolition of Indonesia.
India's dragflick specialist Jugraj found the target in the 10th, 22nd, 42nd and 53rd minutes. Abhishek scored in the 11th, 17th and 49th minutes, while Dilpreet completed his hat-trick with goals in the 30th, 38th and 55th minutes.
Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored twice, while Mandeep Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, Manpreet Singh and Vivek Sagar Prasad also added their names to the scoresheet.
Sri Lanka's lone goal came from Suresh Rathnayake in the 50th minute, giving the team its first-ever goal against India in Asian Games history.
India made an immediate impact and broke the deadlock within five minutes. Mandeep converted an assist from Abhishek to give India the lead.
Jugraj doubled the advantage five minutes later with a powerful dragflick from a penalty corner. Abhishek then added India's third just a minute later with a well-executed field goal.
Harmanpreet converted another penalty corner in the 16th minute before Abhishek struck again a minute later to put India 5-0 ahead.
Jugraj scored his second in the 22nd minute by converting another penalty corner as India extended their lead to 6-0.
Sukhjeet added the seventh in the 29th minute after being set up by vice-captain Hardik Singh. Dilpreet then made it 8-0 just before half-time with a clever deflection following Mandeep's effort.
India maintained their control after the interval. Manpreet scored an uncommon field goal in the 31st minute, while Vivek Sagar Prasad added another five minutes later with a reverse-shot finish.
Dilpreet scored his second in the 38th minute following a neat one-two combination with Sukhjeet. Jugraj then completed his hat-trick in the 42nd minute by converting a penalty stroke.
Harmanpreet added his second goal from a penalty corner in the 45th minute, taking India's lead to 13-0.
Abhishek completed his hat-trick in the 49th minute with an impressive backhand finish. Sri Lanka responded a minute later when Rathnayake scored to make it 13-1.
Jugraj restored India's 13-goal advantage in the 53rd minute by converting from the spot. Dilpreet then completed his hat-trick two minutes later after receiving a precise pass from Mandeep.
India will next take on South Korea on Thursday.
