At least 10 students at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) have accused a professor of sexual harassment, with the university’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) currently examining the allegations.
The complaints were filed around a month ago and allege that the professor invited students to gatherings at his residence on the university campus, where he allegedly made inappropriate sexual advances. He has also been accused of making sexually inappropriate remarks during classes.
Following the filing of the initial complaint with the ICC, several senior students expressed support for the complainants and raised concerns about the professor’s alleged conduct. A number of them also came forward with similar allegations against him.
The ICC is currently investigating the complaints. Neither the JNU administration nor the Vice-Chancellor’s Office has released an official statement on the matter so far. The student body has also not provided any updates.
