A frightening hit-and-run incident was caught on camera on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road, where a speeding white sedan allegedly chased and then struck a woman riding a motorcycle.
The incident was recorded by an action camera fitted to the woman’s bike, and footage of the collision and what followed has since circulated widely on social media.
The rider, identified as Sia, reportedly suffered serious injuries.
In a video she shared online, Sia alleged that the car began following her while she was on a Sunday ride with a group of fellow bikers.
In the voice-over accompanying the footage, she said she asked the sedan driver to keep a safe distance after noticing his aggressive manner of driving. Instead, she claimed, the driver asked her to stop and pull over.
Sia also alleged that the people inside the vehicle were drunk, although the exact number of occupants other than the driver was not known.
She said she deliberately tried to remain slightly ahead of the sedan so that the driver could not move the car in front of her motorcycle.
As the vehicle continued following her, one of her fellow riders reportedly moved his motorcycle behind her in an attempt to protect her from the car.
However, the sedan suddenly swerved and struck her motorcycle from the side before driving away. The collision sent Sia crashing onto the road, while her motorcycle slid across the asphalt, throwing off a trail of sparks.
A separate video recorded by another rider’s helmet camera showed him following the sedan and briefly confronting its driver when the car stopped at a traffic signal. The driver then sped away.
According to reports, Sia was taken to a nearby hospital, where her condition is reportedly critical.
Following the circulation of the footage, the Gurugram Traffic Police have begun investigating the incident.
