India will start its campaign in Kirtipur, and Nepal will co-host the 2027 U19 Women's T20 World Cup

India will begin their title defence at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2027 against the West Indies in Kirtipur on January 22. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule for the tournament’s third edition, which Bangladesh and Nepal will co-host from January 21 to February 6.

Sixteen teams will participate in 41 matches across four venues in Chattogram, Sylhet and Kathmandu. The final is scheduled for February 6, with February 7 reserved as a backup date.

India will aim to win their third consecutive title after lifting the inaugural trophy in South Africa in 2023 and retaining it in Malaysia in 2025. In the previous edition, the team led by Niki Prasad defeated South Africa in the final, further establishing their dominance in the competition.

India have been placed in Group A alongside Ireland, the West Indies and hosts Nepal. They will start their campaign against the West Indies at the TU International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur, followed by matches against Nepal on January 24 and Ireland on January 26.

Nepal will open their campaign against Ireland on January 22. Hosting the tournament will give the country an opportunity to showcase its emerging cricketing talent on home soil.

Group B features South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan and Samoa. Australia, Bangladesh, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) form Group C, while England, Sri Lanka, the United States and Scotland have been drawn in Group D.

The group stage will continue until January 26, after which the qualifying teams will advance to the Super Six phase. These teams will be split into two groups, with the top two sides from each group earning places in the semi-finals.

Both semi-finals will be held on February 4 at the Bir Shrestha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram. February 5 will serve as the reserve day for the knockout matches. The final will take place at the same venue on February 6, with February 7 available as a reserve day.

ICC chief executive Sanjog Gupta said the tournament would help promising young cricketers progress towards elite-level careers while encouraging more girls to take up the sport.

Gupta described the U19 World Cup as a platform for showcasing cricket’s future stars and helping young players make the transition to representing their countries at the highest level.

He also highlighted Bangladesh and Nepal as hosts, noting their enthusiasm for cricket and the opportunity the tournament presents to strengthen the sport’s future in both nations.
