Actor Gaurav Khanna has received praise from fans for portraying Lord Shri Ram at an event in Agra, with videos of his performance gaining widespread attention on social media. The appearance came after his exit from Khatron Ke Khiladi 15, where actor Avinash Mishra eventually won the trophy.
The event, Janakpuri Mahotsav 2026, was held at Bhavana Estate in Agra and featured an elaborate presentation of the Ramayana. Khanna, best known to television audiences for playing Anuj Kapadia in Anupamaa, portrayed Lord Shri Ram for the first time, while Vindu Dara Singh played Hanuman. Their pairing on stage became one of the highlights of the performance.
Khanna appeared in a completely different look for the Agra event. Fans remarked that his expression captured Ram’s characteristic serenity and gentle smile. Several users on X praised his portrayal and stage presence.
One user wrote, “Gaurav Khanna, you looked absolutely divine as Prabhu Shri Ram. There was something truly beautiful and serene about seeing you in this form. May Prabhu Shri Ram’s blessings always be with you. You were brilliant. Jai Shri Ram (sic).”
A second user on X commented, “Gaurav Khanna as Prabhu Shri Ram. What a spiritual experience watching the divinity of actor Gaurav Khanna (sic).”
Another user wrote, “He looks divine and effortlessly swaggy at the same time (sic).”
A different viewer shared, “Just watched the whole live video of yesterday. Gaurav Khanna graced the stage as Shree Ram and left the entire audience spellbound. The way he carried the dignity, strength and compassion of Shree Ram was absolutely commendable (sic).”
Vindu Dara Singh’s portrayal of Hanuman further strengthened the devotional atmosphere. Other actors featured in the Ramlila included Rajan Modi as Lakshman, Prachi as Sita and Arya Babbar as Ravana.
Vindu’s performance also evoked nostalgia among viewers because his late father, actor Dara Singh, famously portrayed Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana. Vindu himself has played the character before, appearing in the 1995–96 television series Jai Veer Hanuman and the 2006 Telugu film Sri Ramadasu. His return to the role added a personal and nostalgic element to the Agra event.
Khatron Ke Khiladi exit
Khanna’s latest public appearance followed his emotional exit from Khatron Ke Khiladi 15. He had described his decision to leave the show as painful, despite completing the elimination stunt before Rubina Dilaik and Ruhaanika Dhawan. Ruhaanika lost the task and was initially set to be eliminated, but Khanna’s decision to withdraw from the competition effectively saved her.
Explaining his decision, Khanna said he did not want to continue unless he was “100 per cent physically fit”. He also expressed concern that upcoming stunts involving electrocution could aggravate his elbow pain and weaken his right arm.
During the show, he stated, “Even though I have won it, I would still want to take an exit from the show because I know it is affecting my health.”
The actor was also recently in the news amid reports of a separation from his actor wife, Akanksha Chamola.
