Amul increases the cost of butter and ghee; see the updated prices

Consumers will have to pay more for Amul ghee and butter after the dairy major announced a price hike across several products. The revision comes during the festive season, adding to household expenses.

Under the revised maximum retail prices (MRP), a 1-kg carton of Amul ghee now costs Rs 680, up from the earlier price of Rs 640. Similarly, the price of a 500-gram pouch of pure ghee has increased from Rs 325 to Rs 345.

Amul cow ghee has also become more expensive. Its 500-ml pouch now costs Rs 370, compared with Rs 350 earlier. The price of the 1-litre pouch has been raised from Rs 695 to Rs 735.

Butter prices have also been revised upwards. A 100-gram pack, previously priced at Rs 63, now costs Rs 66. Meanwhile, the 500-gram pack has become costlier by Rs 15, with its price increasing from Rs 310 to Rs 325.

WHY HAS AMUL RAISED PRICES?

Amul said the revised prices of Amul Table Butter, Amul Ghee and Amul Cow Ghee came into effect on October 2, 2026.

The company attributed the increase to rising milk production costs, which have made it necessary to revise the prices of these dairy products.

Amul also highlighted that it is a cooperative organisation owned by 36 lakh farmers.

The company added that products carrying the updated MRPs would gradually reach markets across the country.
