Five "lawyers" who manufactured fake, falsified, and forged law degree certificates and have been practicing law for the past 11 years throughout Andhra Pradesh have been the subject of criminal cases filed by the police.
The Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh reportedly initiated an investigation after getting many complaints regarding bogus lawyers practicing at various locations throughout the State and discovered up to 15 lawyers whose qualifications were dubious.
In order to conduct a check, the council then sent letters to the universities where these 15 lawyers are said to have received their legal education.
The universities have told the Council that the aforementioned advocates were not admitted to their colleges within the allotted time frames and that no credentials were granted to them. It was also revealed that eight of these 15 lawyers voluntarily withdrew from the program after the investigation.
Later, on January 11, Padmalatha, the secretary of the Bar Council, lodged two complaints at the Thulluru police station against five attorneys. The complaint claims that Bikki Nageswara Rao, 35, Macherla Venkateswara, an attorney in Sattenapalli, Kotturi Srinivasa Rao, an attorney in Kakinada, D Chamudeswari from Tenali, and Chintakayala CSS Murthy from Tuni are all practicing law without having received a law degree and have presented forged and false certificates.
Sections 120(B) (Criminal Conspiracy), 420 (Cheating), 467, 468 (Forgery), and 471 r/w 34 of the IPC are among the non-bailable sections under which cases have been filed against the accused. To validate their educational credentials, the police have already issued official communications to the university administrations.
