The new Citizen CZ smartwatch measures fatigue using NASA technology and artificial intelligence

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023, Citizen introduced the CZ Smartwatch, which measures wearers' attentiveness and weariness using artificial intelligence (AI) and NASA research.

The CZ Smart YouQ program, which enables users to comprehend and forecast their own fatigue patterns as well as receive tips on how to improve them for a healthier, more alert, and rested lifestyle, is where the new watch's power lies, according to ZDNET.

To gauge their alertness, users of the application can daily take a customised "Alert Monitor" test. A consumer-grade version of NASA's Psychomotor Vigilance Task Test (PVT+), which evaluates astronauts' mental acuity, is used in this test.

According to Jeffrey Cohen, president of Citizen Watch America, "The newest CZ Smartwatch is a game-changing device that puts Citizen's tradition of watchmaking together with best-in-class research and technology of NASA and IBM, directly to wearers' wrists."

The more frequently wearers use the watch, the more CZ Smart YouQ learns about them and can predict and advise more accurately. The CZ Smart PQ watch will be sold in the US starting in March 2023 and will cost $350, according to the report.

The YouQ app will determine daily "Power Fixes," which are suggested acts intended to increase alertness and decrease exhaustion, by tracking your sleep and through personalised gamified assessments. The YouQ app's recommendations for the best health activities to do throughout the day will get more accurate the more you use it and its actions. The CZ Smart Sport and the CZ Smart Casual are two new second-generation smartwatch models from Citizen, and their names already hint at their respective fundamental styles.

The stainless steel 41mm case of the CZ Smart Casual is available with a selection of bands in silver, gold, or black metal, a rose gold mesh bracelet, leather, or a sporty silicone strap. There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor, a 1.28-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage. The smartwatch also features rapid charging, NFC, a speaker, and a microphone. It is anticipated that the battery would last all day and recharge in 40 minutes.

The CZ Smart Sport has the same fundamental specifications, but it has a larger 44mm case that is available in silver, black, or a mix of silver/black, silver/blue, or gold/black. Around its 1.28-inch screen is a striking bezel, and there are several alternative band options, including a perforated leather band that joins a black and silver metal band and a pair of silicone straps. On both variants, a heart rate sensor with Sp02 measurement is employed.
