According to police, three persons have been detained in connection with the murder of a woman and the placement of her body in a plastic drum at a Bengaluru train station. The defendants were named as Kamal, age 21, Tanveer Alam, age 28, and Shakib, age 25. All three of them were coolies at Bengaluru's City Market and were natives of the Bihar region's Araria area.
Tamanna, the victim, was wed to Intikhab from the Araria district, according to the Baiyappanahalli Railway Police. Intikhab and one of the accused Nawab, according to the police, are brothers.
The investigation led the authorities to the conclusion that Nawab was upset with Tamanna, 27 because she had previously married Afroz and the two had been living apart before she eloped with Intikhab and reportedly forced him into getting hitched. Nawab and Afroz were related.
Nawab planned the woman's murder along with the other defendants. A search is being conducted to find Nawab and the four other accused who are still at large, according to the police, who have formed three teams to look into the case.
The arrested were charged with violating Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of the offense committed in furtherance of common object), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of the offense or giving false information to screen offender), 120B (punishment of criminal conspiracy), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 302 (punishment for murder), 143 (unlawful assembly), and 120B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) (IPC).
At the Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Baiyappanahalli, RPF officers discovered Tamanna's dead body on Monday at around 7.30 p.m., packed inside a blue plastic drum. When two related incidents—one at the SMVT Baiyappanahalli and the other at the Yeshwanthpur Train Station—were previously recorded, there was a growing suspicion of a suspected serial killing.
The three deaths had no relationship, according to the police, who also confirmed that it was not a case of serial killing.
There was no serial killing in this case. During our inquiry, no similar link between the other homicides was found.
