During a raid on the sand mafia, criminals attack police and burn their vehicle

During a special operation against sand traffickers, the West Bengal Police allegedly came under attack from criminals. The miscreants had also set a police car ablaze there. The Darjeeling district in West Bengal's Siliguri subdistrict is where this tragedy occurred.

According to a police source, a team was dispatched to stop the sand smuggling that was taking place along the Chenga River's bank in the Phansidewa neighborhood of the Siliguri block. A team of local police officers launched an operation after receiving a tip. As soon as the cops arrived, the sand smugglers attempted to flee the area.

Senior police officers from the Darjeeling district arrived at the scene later with an additional police force after being told of the attack on the police team. Darjeeling District Police SDPO Achintya Gupta led a sizable police team that arrived at the scene and stabilized the situation.

Many locals were hurt during the onslaught by the miscreants, sources claim.

One of the injured villagers allegedly suffered injuries after being struck by a police car and was taken to a local hospital. Manoranjan Ghosh, the Assistant Superintendent of Police for the Darjeeling District, arrived at the scene after learning of the occurrence.

"Based on secret source information, when the police force went there, it was found that illicit sand was being smuggled," said Praveen Prakash, SP of the Darjeeling district Police. "The police were attacked by the unknown miscreants, and the police's jeep was shattered and burned." The event is being investigated by the police. Soon, all of the suspects will be apprehended.
