When two groups battled during the procession held in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, to commemorate Dr. Ambedkar's birth anniversary, up to 11 persons were hurt. During Dr. Ambedkar's parade in Bhartia village of Police Station Jaint in the Chaumuha region of Mathura, some miscreants screamed offensive remarks, which led to a clash between the two sides.
As a result, there was stone-pelting and a stampede in the parade, which caused it to stop. 11 people were hurt as glass bottles were thrown from both sides.
Many police and security personnel also sustained injuries. Policemen took injured constables Divesh Chaudhary, Rajendra Singh, and Kaushal Yadav to a nearby hospital.
Magistrate Manoj Varshney, SDM Sweta Singh, ADM Yoganand Pandey, and other administrative officials showed up and assessed the situation. To keep things law and orderly, the RAF has sent several personnel to the city.
Three Ambedkar sculptures were vandalized in Hathras district in a related incident. Dalits in the city were furious and shut down businesses when they learned that Ambedkar's temples had been desecrated.
Both parties are accused in a case that has been reported to the Kotwali police department. The installation of new statues has been promised by the district administration for today.
