246 Indians crossing a war-torn Sudan arrived in Mumbai

On Thursday, a plane from the Indian Air Force that had evacuated 246 Indians from the violently divided Sudan landed in Mumbai. The aircraft arrived in Mumbai at around 3.30 pm after departing Jeddah at around 11 am IST.

The army of Sudan and a paramilitary group have been engaged in deadly combat, which has kept the situation there tense. Indian efforts to evacuate its residents from the violent African country have increased.

The Indian government is transporting Sudanese refugees to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia as part of its evacuation mission known as "Operation Kaveri," from whence they will fly back to India.

360 Indians who had been evacuated from Sudan boarded a commercial aircraft on Wednesday night and landed in New Delhi. A second flight from Sudan carrying 246 Indian people made its way to Mumbai on Thursday.

On Thursday, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra gave reporters an update on the ongoing "Operation Kaveri." According to Kwatra, the security situation in Sudan is still very complicated, extremely unstable, and unexpected. He also stated that India's goal is to remove every stranded Indian from that nation.

According to Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra, 1,700 to 2,000 Indian citizens were evacuated from the crisis areas, including those who had already left Sudan and those who were traveling from the capital city of Khartoum to Port Sudan.
