Shanti Devi, the mother of Umesh Pal, said that the police shooting death of Asad, the son of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed, was a "tribute" to her murdered son. The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) shot and killed Asad, who was wanted in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal, on Thursday near Jhansi.
Umesh Pal's mother expressed her appreciation to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for upholding justice in a statement to the media following the incident, adding that she had complete faith in the CM and the UP administration.
"This is a tribute to my son," Umesh Pal's mother stated.
I appreciate CM Yogi Ji doing the right thing, and I beg him to do the same for us in the future, she remarked.
Asad, who had a $55,000 bounty on his head, was slain in an encounter under the direction of Deputy SPs Nuvendu and Vimal. His encounter took place on the same day that his father appeared before the Prayagraj Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal.
On February 24 of this year, shots were fired outside Umesh Pal's home in Prayagraj's Dhoomanganj neighborhood, killing him along with his two police security guards. Umesh Pal was a key witness in the 2005 murder trial of BSP MLA Raju Pal. According to the post-mortem report, Umesh Pal was shot seven times at his home in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. His 13 wounds, including six bullet wounds, were discovered during his autopsy.
After that, Umesh Pal's wife Jaya Pal filed a lawsuit against Atiq Ahmad, Ashraf, and other people.
The FIR was filed under the IPC sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt at murder), 506 (criminal intimidation), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting with deadly weapons), 149 (unlawful assembly guilty of an act committed in prosecution of a common aim), and 307 (attempt at murder).
Additionally charged in the 2005 murder of Raju Pal is Atiq Ahmad.
