Maoist Attack In Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, Kills 10 Policemen and a Driver

 


According to officials cited by news agency PTI, the Maoist blast that took place in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, on Wednesday claimed the lives of ten police officers and one civilian. The event happened within the confines of the Aranpur police station in the Dantewada district. The region is about 450 km from Raipur, the state capital.

Officials claim that the attack took place while a group of Chhatisgarh police's District Reserve Guard (DRG) was returning from a counter-Naxalite operation.  According to police sources, Naxalites detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) in the security personnel's mini-goods van.

According to P Sundarraj, the Inspector General (IG) of Bastar, all of the police officers' bodies are being removed from the scene of the attack. "...in the onslaught, 10 DRG jawans and one civilian driver perished...All of their bodies are being removed from the area. There are senior officers present. The search operation has begun, according to Sundarraj, who was quoted by the news outlet ANI. 

Bhupesh Baghel, the chief minister of Chattisgarh, sent his sympathies to the families of the victims of the incident.
