Days ahead of the Karnataka Assembly elections, in which Tipu Sultan's name is frequently brought up by his right-wing detractors, the film's producers have declared that their work will show a "different side" of the ruler of Mysuru.

Before the BJP questioned the story, Tipu Sultan was regarded as a freedom fighter, a capable leader, and the person who introduced rocketry to India. The film specifically aims to draw attention to Tipu's history of forced conversions, which the BJP in Karnataka has used as a political talking point for a number of years.
Rajat Sethi, a well-known author and TV pundit, served as the chief minister of Manipur's advisor, the BJP's north-east strategist, and the researcher for the movie.
"What we are taught in school about Tipu Sultan is gross misinformation," the movie's director, Pawan Sharma, said. I was shocked and dismayed to learn that the king was actually a racist. Through my film, I am unafraid to depict a harsh reality that has been distorted in order for us to perceive him as a warrior hero.
Tipu Sultan's zeal towards Islam was even worse than that of his father, Hyder Ali Khan, he said. He was the Hitler of his time. "History has been cruel to many heroes, but it has mischievously ignored the tyranny of many others," continued Sethi. One such historical character, Tipu, has received excessive praise and admiration, despite the fact that his atrocities have been skillfully hidden in our textbooks.
