Americans adore the strategic acumen of Prime Minister Narendra Modi

 

It is a great pleasure for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make his first-ever State visit to the US. It acknowledges our rising stature in the international community. PM Modi will address the US Congress for the second time this year.

It will be crucial for us to win over the legislators' favor. He has already wowed them, and this time he will do so more dramatically.

These people are decision-makers who are aware of the larger picture and strategy. They are not viewing inflated representations of India. PM Modi is the best person to convey to them that India is on the right track and that they should support it.

The US-India relationship is becoming deeper, more strategic, and more influential in determining the global order. For many years, US leaders have said that the US-India relationship is the one that will define the 21st century. This will be a significant visit because it will establish the tone for the development of the relationship.

The US has begun to take PM, Modi, more seriously as a result of India's development. There was a period when India was still regarded as a state that could yet change its mind. Since PM Modi took office, they have taken notice of the country's economic expansion, military modernization, infrastructure improvements, and assured diplomacy. 

They cannot afford to ignore or marginalize him or the entire nation of India. There is a great deal of concern among the US Congress, the White House, and even the general people about China and other authoritarian nations seizing power and undermining democracy around the world. Their perception is that India, particularly in the Indo-Pacific area, is the final stronghold still standing, led by PM Modi. They believe that if they don't invest in it, dictators would take over and eradicate all democracy from the planet.

Hillary Clinton, a former US secretary of state, once said, "I don't want to see a world where my grandkids are under Chinese rule. A Sinocentric world is not what I want to see.

Because of the rising US-China tensions, the US has become more aware of how important India is as a counterweight. India is both their best option and a need.

The US and India's present defense alliance is expanding at an exponential rate. The US-India initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) is one example of it. There have been rumors that General Electric fighter aircraft jet engines will be produced in India. There will probably be drone purchases. Sharing of intelligence has also increased.

We used to be a little more wary of getting intelligence from the Americans since doing so might be interpreted as a weakness. We have developed a strategy to get the most advantage and leverage out of our relationship with the US with the help of Prime Minister Modi, National Security Advisor of India Ajit Doval, and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
