On Thursday night, Cyclone Biparjoy is anticipated to make landfall in Gujarat's Kutch area close to the Jakhau port. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the Armed Forces' plans to deal with the impact of the cyclone with the three service chiefs on Wednesday, ahead of the anticipated landfall.
According to Rajnath Singh, the Armed Forces are prepared to offer all help in handling any scenario or eventuality that may develop as a result of the cyclone.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has designated a total of 33 teams to carry out relief and rescue operations across Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Four NDRF teams have been deployed in the Kutch district of Gujarat, three in Rajkot and Devbhumi Dwarka, two in Jamnagar, and one each in Porbandar, Junagarh, Gir Somnath, Morbi, Valsad, and Gandhinagar.
In the nearby Diu, which is surrounded on three sides by the Arabian Sea and on two sides by the Gir Somnath and Amreli districts of Gujarat, one NDRF team has been stationed.
Five of the 14 NDRF teams in Maharashtra have been deployed in Mumbai, with the remaining units being maintained on standby.
Each of these teams has 35 to 40 members and is furnished with electric saws, inflatable boats, basic medicines, and relief supplies in addition to tree and pole saws.
Amit Shah, the Union home minister, has postponed going to Telangana on June 15 due to the cyclone.
The intended public meeting of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Khammam on June 15th has been postponed, Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay said on Wednesday. "Owing to severe cyclonic conditions in the West Coast, especially in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, the meeting stands postponed," he said.
According to Bandi Sanjay, the home minister would be keeping an eye on the rescue efforts in the cyclone-affected states.
Biparjoy, a cyclone, is headed straight for the Gujarat coast. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), isolated areas in the districts of Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Jamnagar are anticipated to see extremely heavy rains on June 15 as the storm reaches the Gujarat coast.
