According to Mumbai police, three men from Jaipur allegedly tricked a 24-year-old German national into giving them cash and gold worth Rs. 9.95 lakh under the pretense of selling him priceless jewelry.
According to an official, the police detained one of the suspects, Zakir Hussain, on August 24 from a hotel in Santacruz after receiving a complaint from the guy, and a manhunt has been started for two further suspects.
The three accused contacted the complainant Soren Habarman when he was exploring Jaipur and offered to sell him some priceless bracelets and rings that were in high demand on the global market, the official claimed.
According to Soren, the group sent bogus jewelry worth Rs 2,000 to his residence abroad and then wanted Rs 15 lakh in payment.
The trio traveled to Mumbai with Soren after he was unable to withdraw the money in Jaipur and Delhi. According to the officer, the complainant was able to withdraw Rs 3.75 lakh from ATMs and buy Rs 6.20 lakh worth of gold biscuits, which he then gave to the trio.
He continued that the complainant soon developed suspicions and went to the police.
