The Prime Minister Narendra-led Centre on Saturday established an 8-member committee headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind to study "One Nation, One Election" in the face of harsh criticism from the Opposition political parties.
Along with Kovind, other members of the committee include Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, former Chairman of the 15th Finance Commission NK Singh, former Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Lokpal Ghulam Nabi Azad, senior attorney Harish Salve, and former Chief Vigilance Commissioner Sanjay Kothari.
On the other hand, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal would be a special invitee to the meetings of the high-level committee. The committee's secretary will be Niten Chandra.
It is important to note that the high-level committee will get started right away and deliver all of its recommendations as soon as possible.
The high-level committee's headquarters will be in New Delhi. The committee may choose its own process for holding meetings and carrying out any pertinent duties.
The committee is free to accept and consider any individuals, claims, or communications that it deems necessary to support its work and allow it to complete its recommendations.
