In a recent incident captured on video in Amroha, a city located in Uttar Pradesh, a distressing scene unfolded as a small child found himself under threat from street dogs, prompting him to flee in fear for his safety. Unfortunately, Amroha has been grappling with a troubling trend of stray dogs menacing pedestrians, particularly children. Local residents have shared their concerns, noting that children have taken to venturing outside their homes armed with sticks, primarily due to the menace posed by these marauding canines.
In footage obtained by India Today, the young boy is seen desperately trying to distance himself from the pursuing dog, which is closing in on him with the intention of launching an attack. This incident is just one among numerous instances of stray dog attacks that have been plaguing various regions of Uttar Pradesh.
While the local administration claims to be in the process of evaluating and enhancing animal birth control programs in the area, the residents express their apprehensions about allowing their children to venture outside. The prevailing situation has caused a heightened sense of alarm within the community, with nearly a dozen reported cases of such dog attacks emerging in recent months.
District Magistrate Amroha, Rajesh Kumar Tyagi, communicated with India Today, sharing, "We have summoned a specialized team tasked with apprehending these dogs, and they are diligently working to capture them in different localities. Remedial measures are being implemented at the district level."
Meanwhile, a local resident voiced the community's ordeal, stating, "How can we expect our children to attend school without fear of dog attacks? Even when children need to make simple purchases from local shops, they venture out carrying a stick for self-defense. The presence of these dogs has compelled our children to carry a stick wherever they go." The sentiment reflects the prevalent anxiety and challenges posed by these stray dog encounters in Amroha.
