Characterizing the 'parivartan yatras' organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan as a lackluster affair, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed his views on Friday, asserting that leaders from the opposition party are now resorting to baseless accusations.
The BJP has initiated these 'parivartan yatras,' encompassing all 200 assembly segments within Rajasthan, in anticipation of the forthcoming assembly elections later this year.
While addressing journalists in Tonk, Gehlot commented, "The BJP's yatras are encountering a lack of enthusiasm and response—clearly, their yatras have not yielded the desired results, and I anticipate that they will continue to face similar challenges in the future, primarily because they have failed to deliver on their promises during the preceding four-and-a-half years." Gehlot further elaborated, "These individuals are currently leveling unfounded allegations against our Congress-led government. However, these allegations lack substance, and the discerning public is astutely recognizing this fact." Additionally, Gehlot alleged that BJP leaders struggle to endure criticism.
"In stark contrast, we, the Congress party, do not harbor the same level of ego as these BJP leaders. We are open to constructive criticism. We understand that criticism based on verifiable facts and truths can be advantageous to both us and the general populace. When criticism arises, it is incumbent upon us to set aside ego and engage in a comprehensive analysis of the merits behind such criticism. If it is indeed grounded in reality, then we should take necessary actions for the betterment of the people," Gehlot concluded.
