During a Premier League game, a man was detained on suspicion of assaulting Roy Keane


A 42-year-old individual has been apprehended on suspicion of assault in connection with an incident that transpired during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. The alleged assault targeted Roy Keane, who was reportedly subjected to a headbutt during the match on Sunday.

Footage of the incident flooded social media platforms, capturing Micah Richards, another Sky Sports pundit, restraining a man against a wall following Arsenal's 3-1 victory over Manchester United.

Although the Metropolitan Police did not disclose the identities of those involved, they issued a statement addressing the situation: "An investigation has been launched into an incident at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, 3 September, where a man was reportedly assaulted."

The individuals associated with the Premier League game's coverage for Sky Sports at Emirates Stadium were Micah Richards, aged 35, a former Manchester City and England defender, and Roy Keane, aged 52, a former player for the Republic of Ireland.

"The police are investigating an incident at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, 3 September, during which a man was assaulted," stated The Metropolitan Police.

"On Monday, 4 September, a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault (ABH) and has been taken into police custody. Enquiries are currently ongoing."

A spokesperson for Sky Sports commented on the situation: "We are aware that the police are investigating an alleged assault by a member of the public just prior to the footage circulating on social media. In the observed footage, Micah Richards was involved in deescalating the situation."

Arsenal also acknowledged the incident, stating: "The Metropolitan Police is conducting an investigation into the matter, and we are fully cooperating with their inquiries."
