Man is detained by Bengal police after being found creating firearms at home


On Wednesday, law enforcement authorities uncovered an illicit arms manufacturing facility situated in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

The police department received specific intelligence indicating that an individual was engaged in the production of firearms within the confines of his residence. Taking prompt action based on this information, the police apprehended an individual identified as Rahamattulla Sheikh.

This clandestine arms production workshop had been established by Rahamattulla within his domicile located in Joynagar, South 24 Parganas.

During the operation, law enforcement officers discovered and confiscated eight small single-shot firearms, in addition to two long rifles. Furthermore, they seized various tools and equipment associated with the production of firearms from his residence.

Palash Chandra Dhali, the Superintendent of Police for the Baruipur district, remarked, "At this stage, we have not identified any potential political affiliations or connections involving the suspect. However, we will thoroughly investigate this aspect. It has been ascertained that Rahamattulla was involved in the illicit manufacturing of firearms within his residence and subsequently distributing them."
