In the midst of their questioning, local residents in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain, where the rape survivor was spotted seeking assistance, disclosed to the police that they had made an offer of 'some money' to the minor girl, as per the police's statement on Thursday.
The Superintendent of Police in Ujjain, Sachin Sharma, revealed that numerous individuals extended financial assistance to the minor girl who had fallen victim to rape on Monday and had sought aid from passersby while traversing the streets.
Previously, surveillance footage had depicted the girl walking through the locality, partially clothed and bleeding, as she approached a man for assistance, only to be dismissed.
However, inhabitants of the area informed the police that they had indeed attempted to assist the girl by providing her with "modest sums of money."
In connection with the alleged rape of the girl, the police have apprehended an auto driver and detained three others. According to the police's account, the survivor, who had arrived in Ujjain from another district within the state, Satna, on Monday, had boarded an autorickshaw at Jeevan Kheri. Notably, blood stains were discovered on the passenger seat of the autorickshaw, prompting an ongoing forensic examination of the vehicle.
A police official in Satna reported that a missing person report had been filed a day prior to the incident, involving a minor girl; however, it remains uncertain whether it pertains to the same individual.
The police have indicated that the girl had encountered five different individuals at various locations, all of whom are currently under interrogation.
As for the 12-year-old girl who had been raped and was discovered in a critical condition, bleeding on a Ujjain city street, she underwent surgery conducted by a team of specialized doctors on Wednesday. Her condition, though critical, has since stabilized, according to an official source.
