Rises to 8, Rs 25 lakh in compensation for surviving family members after Noida lift tragedy

A compensation package totalling Rs 25 lakh has been declared to provide financial relief to the grieving families of those who tragically lost their lives in a devastating lift crash accident that transpired at the construction site of the Amrapali Dream Valley Project situated in Greater Noida.

The harrowing incident unfolded on a fateful Friday when a service lift, carrying nine diligent workers from the basement, experienced an abrupt malfunction, leading to its catastrophic descent to the ground below. This calamity inflicted grievous injuries upon all the occupants.

Regrettably, upon their arrival at the hospital, four of the injured workers were pronounced dead, and another four, who were initially hospitalized, eventually succumbed to their injuries on the subsequent Saturday, raising the death toll to an unfortunate total of eight souls.

In response to this heart-wrenching tragedy, a compensation package amounting to Rs 25 lakh has been officially announced. This compensation initiative encompasses a substantial contribution of Rs 20 lakh from the state-affiliated National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) and an additional Rs 5 lakh from the court receiver.

However, it is worth noting that the bereaved families, grappling with their profound loss, are vociferously advocating for a more substantial compensation package amounting to Rs 50 lakh. Their appeal is accompanied by a fervent call for a comprehensive and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the devastating incident.

Simultaneously, legal actions are underway in the form of a case filed against nine individuals, a group which notably includes the General Managers of Girdhari Lal Construction and NBCC, in connection with this heart-rending incident.
