Why don't you say something? Day 4 of the Anantnag operations saw criticism of the PM

Opposition party leaders have criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence regarding the Anantnag encounter, which has resulted in the tragic deaths of four security forces personnel. The operation to root out terrorists from the dense forest region in Anantnag district has now entered its fourth day.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, while addressing a public gathering at Lalbagh Ground in Chhattisgarh, took a swipe at PM Modi, stating, "It's been four days since our jawans lost their lives during the Anantnag encounter operation, but PM Modi has not uttered a single word... Why are you not speaking? Don't you share in their grief?"

Arvind Kejriwal expressed his remarks amidst mounting frustration over the silence of top government officials regarding this incident. He also remarked, "The entire nation is mourning the loss of our four security personnel. The nation is even more disheartened to witness our Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Defence Minister celebrating while these brave individuals made the ultimate sacrifice."

A number of opposition parties, collectively known as the INDIA bloc, had criticized the BJP for their "celebrations" marking the success of the G20 Summit on the very day when terrorists attacked and killed security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir.

Furthermore, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi questioned the Prime Minister's notably subdued response in the aftermath of the 2019 Pulwama attack, asking why his anger had subsided.

"They are playing with the lives of Indian soldiers. A cricket match of bullets is happening in Rajouri, and our people are losing their lives. First, we need to end this game before playing cricket... My question to the PM is, where is the anger he displayed after the Pulwama attack?" Owaisi inquired.

He criticized the BJP's policy regarding Kashmir, labelling it a failure. "Our soldiers have lost their lives in multiple terror attacks, and we are playing cricket in Ahmedabad," Owaisi added. "This is a failure of the government. You claimed that the abrogation of Article 370 would resolve everything, but look at what's happening there..."

The day prior, Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram had censured the Central government for its response to the killing of security personnel in the Jammu and Kashmir encounter. Chidambaram remarked, "The ruling establishment—the BJP—does not take a moment to pay tribute to the martyrs."

In this tragic encounter in Anantnag, four security forces personnel—Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonchak, Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Bhat, and a soldier—lost their lives.

"It is almost as if the government anticipates that people will perish while defending its 'ill-conceived policy' in Kashmir," the former home minister concluded.
