Chetan Anand, a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA and the son of former Bihar legislator Anand Mohan has expressed his strong disapproval of his party's MP Manoj Jha's recent poem recitation in Parliament, which was critical of the 'Thakur' community.
During the debate on the women's reservation bill in the Rajya Sabha, Manoj Jha recited a poem titled 'Thakur ka Kuan,' which has sparked controversy. Chetan Anand, upset by Jha's comments, has condemned any form of derogatory remarks or attacks against the Thakur community. He called on Jha to refrain from hypocrisy.
Criticizing Jha's comments, including his call to "beat" individuals from the Thakur community, Chetan Anand, an RJD leader, argued that targeting a particular caste under the guise of social justice is hypocritical. He made it clear that such statements would not be tolerated.
Chetan Anand, a 31-year-old MLA from Sheohar, asserted that Manoj Jha had portrayed the Thakur community negatively through his choice of poem and recitation in Parliament. He further contended that Jha's remarks undermined Tejashwi Yadav's efforts to make the RJD an inclusive party.
Chetan Anand pointed out a perceived double standard, suggesting that Manoj Jha, being a Brahmin, did not use any poems against his own community. He expressed his intention to raise the issue with RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Chetan Anand also criticized Jha's statements about eliminating Thakurs and questioned Jha's commitment to socialism, suggesting that Jha should consider removing 'Jha' from his name. He vehemently opposed such behavior from his senior party members.
Furthermore, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized Manoj Jha's statement and accused the RJD of having a historical anti-Rajput stance, alleging that the RJD is using such statements for political gain and tarnishing the reputation of the Rajput community.
