The Punjab government has taken a decisive step on Monday by issuing a ban on all forms of stunts and perilous performances involving tractors. This move comes in response to a tragic incident in which a stuntman lost his life, crushed under a tractor while performing at a fair in Punjab's Gurdaspur district.
Punjab's Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, conveyed this directive through a post on a platform, emphasizing the need to preserve the tractor's reputation as the "king of fields" rather than allowing it to become associated with tragedy. The ban encompasses any activities involving tractors and related equipment that pose a risk to public safety. Further details regarding the ban are expected to be released shortly.
The unfortunate incident that prompted this action involved a 29-year-old stuntman named Sukhmandeep Singh. He met with a fatal accident while attempting a stunt with his own tractor during a fair in Batala, a region within Punjab's Gurdaspur district.
The distressing video capturing the incident quickly circulated on various social media platforms, garnering significant attention.
Sukhmandeep Singh had arrived at the fair with his tractor, intending to showcase his skills on the sports ground of Sarachur village. During his performance, he elevated the tractor's front wheels and pressed the rear tires onto the ground, while he ran alongside it. Unfortunately, the situation took a turn for the worse as the tractor veered out of control, heading toward the assembled crowd. In a desperate attempt to regain control, Sukhmandeep Singh approached the tractor but was tragically trapped beneath it due to its erratic movements. Despite the efforts of two nearby individuals to rescue him from under the tractor, it was too late, and Sukhmandeep Singh lost his life in the tragic accident.
