A tragic incident occurred in Assam's Goalpara district on Monday, resulting in the loss of four lives and leaving seven individuals with injuries, as reported by the police.
This unfortunate collision took place along National Highway 17, specifically in the Gulianpara region of the district. The circumstances leading up to the accident unfolded when a bus, en route from Guwahati to Goalpara, crossed paths with an SUV traveling in the opposite direction, the police noted.
Regrettably, all the deceased individuals were occupants of the SUV. Tragically, the SUV's driver lost his life at the accident site, while two passengers succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical attention at the Rongjuli primary health center. Another passenger's condition deteriorated to a critical point, leading to his unfortunate passing while en route to Guwahati for further treatment, as confirmed by the police.
In light of the severity of their injuries, two other individuals were promptly transferred to Guwahati for more advanced medical care. The remaining injured parties were receiving treatment at the Goalpara Civil Hospital. Among the injured was a scooter rider who happened to be passing through the accident scene during the collision.
