A tragic incident unfolded in Tamil Nadu's Kallakrurichi, where a young aspiring medical student took her own life by ingesting pesticide, reportedly due to overwhelming anxiety related to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
The victim, Bhairavi, originally hailing from Eravar village, had enrolled in a NEET coaching center located in Arthur. She had been grappling with academic challenges and had reached out to her parents, disclosing the difficulties she was facing just a few days before the incident. In response, her parents offered words of encouragement and urged her to persist in her studies, motivating her to put in more effort.
However, Bhairavi, struggling with her emotional turmoil, made the fateful decision to ingest pesticide approximately three days before the tragedy unfolded. Shockingly, she chose to suffer in silence, not sharing her ordeal with anyone, and her condition deteriorated until the pesticide took her life three days later.
Her relatives, alarmed by her sudden loss of consciousness, hurriedly rushed her to a hospital for medical intervention. Initially, Bhairavi was admitted to Kallakurichi Government Hospital, and later, she was transferred to Salem Government Hospital. Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she succumbed to her injuries on Monday.
Bhairavi's brother, Aravindhan, revealed that she had faced the anguish of not passing the NEET examination the previous year, an experience that had deeply saddened her. Driven by her dream of pursuing a career in medicine, she sought assistance from a NEET coaching center in Arthur. However, she continued to grapple with her studies and voiced her concerns about her ability to comprehend the subject matter, as well as her fear of achieving lower scores.
As this heartbreaking incident continues to be investigated, it serves as a stark reminder of the immense pressure and emotional challenges that students face, especially in the context of competitive exams like NEET.
