Mother in UP hacks her 15-year-old daughter to death over a romantic relationship; she is arrested

A woman in Kaushambi has been apprehended by law enforcement for the alleged gruesome act of hacking her minor daughter to death. The motive behind this harrowing crime, as reported by the police on Monday, appears to be her objection to her daughter's romantic involvement with a young man.

In a chilling sequence of events, the woman, identified as Shivpati, stands accused of taking the life of her 15-year-old daughter using an axe and subsequently disposing of the body in a well with the assistance of other family members. This incident took a startling turn when Shivpati filed a report at the Manjhanpur police station, asserting that her daughter had fallen victim to a kidnapping.

According to Brijesh Kumar Srivastava, the Superintendent of Police, Shivpati's complaint on October 14 claimed that her daughter had ventured to the fields for some task on October 2 but had not returned home since that day. Based on this complaint, the authorities initiated a case of abduction against unknown individuals, commencing an investigation into the matter.

However, on October 26, members of the local community alerted the police to a shocking discovery: the lifeless body of a young girl found submerged in a well within a field situated outside Tejvapur village. Following the identification by Shivpati, the case took a more sinister turn, with Section 302 (pertaining to the punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code being appended to the investigation, as confirmed by the police.

Nonetheless, compelling evidence began pointing towards Shivpati as the principal suspect in this horrific crime. As a result, she was taken into custody for her alleged involvement in the murder on Monday. Simultaneously, her other minor daughter was detained as part of the ongoing investigation, while her daughter-in-law, Meera, is currently evading authorities, prompting intensified efforts to locate and apprehend her.

Further insights into this gruesome act emerged as law enforcement acted on information provided by Shivpati. They were able to recover the axe and stick that were purportedly utilized in the murder. Additionally, a sack employed to conceal the victim's body was retrieved from the scene.

Srivastava revealed that during questioning, the accused confessed to her heinous act. She disclosed that on the fateful night of October 2, she, along with her other daughter and Meera, allegedly perpetrated the brutal killing of the victim by subjecting her to repeated blows with an axe and a stick. Subsequent to the murder, they concealed the lifeless body within a jute sack and disposed of it in a well located within a field outside their village.

The accused went to great lengths to avoid arousing suspicion from both the police and the local populace. To divert attention away from the crime, Shivpati deliberately filed a case of kidnapping.
