In a distressing incident that occurred on October 12, a 13-year-old teenager in Florida allegedly committed a heinous act by taking his mother's life while she was sleeping beside his newborn sister. Following this gruesome act, he reportedly shared images of the horrifying scene with his friends and later called 911 to confess to the murder.
The teenager in question, Derek Rosa, is now facing serious legal consequences, as he has been indicted by a grand jury and charged with first-degree murder for the death of his mother, Irene Garcia, who was 39 years old at the time of the incident.
During the chilling 911 call that lasted for approximately 18 minutes, Rosa admitted to taking photographs of his deceased mother and sending them to his friends. He even questioned if such actions were considered wrong, indicating a disturbing lack of understanding or remorse.
In the same call, Rosa reportedly asked if his mother was deceased and described the grim scene, mentioning that there was blood all over the floor. He also revealed his immediate intentions regarding a firearm and a knife, expressing his internal struggle and apparent desire for self-harm.
During his initial court appearance, which he did not attend, it was determined that Derek Rosa would be tried as an adult. His father, Jose Rosa, spoke on his behalf in juvenile court, describing the teenager as humble and peaceful. He expressed the unfortunate nature of the tragedy but emphasized that nobody could have foreseen such a horrific event.
Currently, Derek Rosa has been ordered to be detained without bond and is scheduled to be transferred to the Metro West Detention Center. At the time of this report, he is being held at the Miami-Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation facility.
