Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP's IT cell, raised concerns on X about a potential connection between billionaire philanthropist George Soros and the recent Apple iPhone warnings received by several opposition leaders in India. In a series of X posts, he insinuated that the network 'Access Now,' which was referenced by opposition leaders to support their claims of hacking attempts, was financially backed by George Soros, a prominent American billionaire philanthropist.
The iPhone alerts, which warned of "state-sponsored attackers" targeting the devices, were received by various opposition leaders, including Mahua Moitra from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Congress leaders Pawan Khera and Shashi Tharoor, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Raghav Chadha, and CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury.
Amit Malviya, utilizing a thread on X posted by an account known as 'The Story Teller,' highlighted the Soros link. He emphasized the significance of the 'Access Now network and its potential influence, particularly in light of the fact that opposition leaders received the same Apple notifications. Malviya described this situation as a "sinister plot."
The X account, 'The Story Teller,' asserted that 'Access Now' is a "left-leaning internet access and digital rights advocacy group" committed to combating internet censorship and safeguarding individuals' privacy by addressing the collection of personal data by internet businesses.
Furthermore, the X account provided details about the board members of 'Access Now,' suggesting that they held left-liberal views and concealed these perspectives. One board member, Brett Solomon, was linked to 'Avaaz,' another left-liberal nonprofit organization, co-founded by several activist groups. The thread presented Tom Perriello as a key figure associated with Soros, characterizing him as "most dangerous."
The thread delved into the connection between 'Access Now' and 'Avaaz,' emphasizing the involvement of various prominent individuals in these organizations. It also pointed out Tom Perriello's role on the board of directors of 'Governing for Impact' (GFI), described as a secretive left-of-center regulatory policy think tank created in 2019 to prepare for a new US administration.
The thread contended that GFI offered advice to the Joe Biden-led US administration on implementing left-liberal agendas, operating in a somewhat secretive manner. It highlighted Tom Perriello's access to the White House and his extensive influence, surpassing even some senior members of the Biden Team.
Amit Malviya also invoked X owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk to support his assertions regarding George Soros. He shared a video of Musk criticizing Soros and his activities, characterizing him as someone who "fundamentally hates humanity" and contributing to the erosion of societal foundations.
George Soros, a Holocaust survivor, and a billionaire philanthropist, has been associated with regime changes and perceived as an "agent of disruption" by various governments and rival groups worldwide. He has faced controversy, including comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's accountability in response to allegations of fraud and stock manipulation in the Adani-Hindenburg row.
