Video: As stray canines barge into the Gaya temple and go crazy, devotees disperse

In Bihar's Bodh Gaya, a gathering of street dogs stirred up a stir at the revered Mahabodhi Temple, coinciding with a prayer session that unfolded on a Thursday. The incident transpired in the proximity of the renowned Bodhi tree, where a congregation of foreign tourists was devoutly engaged in their prayers. The abrupt and raucous barking of these street dogs precipitated a momentary frenzy among the worshippers, compelling them to disperse hastily, driven by a palpable sense of apprehension and disarray.

The startling occurrence was captured on video, and the footage swiftly proliferated across various social media platforms. The visual documentation vividly portrays the foreign tourists immersed in their prayer rituals when they were disrupted by the unanticipated intrusion of these street dogs, who vociferously expressed their presence and disrupted the solemn atmosphere.

The Mahabodhi Temple, a revered and iconic site that draws a multitude of foreign tourists each year, boasts a singular entry and exit point. This sole access point is vigilantly guarded by stringent security checks and protocols. Nevertheless, the recurrent incursions of street dogs into the temple premises have disheartened and disconcerted many of the temple's visitors and devotees.

In light of this unsettling incident, the Bodh Gaya Mahabodhi Temple Management Committee (BTMC) Secretary, Sweta Maharathi, has chosen not to issue any official comments or statements. The episode has inevitably raised pertinent concerns regarding the adequacy and efficacy of the safety measures that are in place at the temple. This apprehension is amplified when considering the regular influx of foreign tourists who congregate at this sacred destination to pay homage and engage in worship.
