An old clip of Giorgia Meloni of Italy declaring that there is "no place for Islam in Europe" appears

A resurfaced video featuring Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has been circulating on social media, where she expresses the view that Islamic culture may not align entirely with European values. In the video, Meloni explicitly states her opposition to the implementation of Sharia law in Italy, citing what she perceives as a "compatibility problem" between Islamic culture and the principles and rights of European civilization.

Meloni emphasizes her commitment to preventing the introduction of Sharia law into Italy, asserting that the values of European civilization differ from those associated with Islamic culture. She goes on to point out that many Islamic cultural centers in Italy receive financial support from Saudi Arabia, a fact that she finds noteworthy.

The Prime Minister extends her criticism to Saudi Arabia, condemning the application of strict Sharia Law in the country, where penalties such as stoning for adultery and the death penalty for apostasy and homosexuality are enforced. Meloni clarifies that her critique is not a generalization about Islam but rather an acknowledgment of what she perceives as an ongoing process of Islamization in Europe, which she believes is incompatible with the values of European civilization.

These comments by Giorgia Meloni have come to light following an event organized by her far-right party, the Brothers of Italy, on December 16, during which British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was also in attendance.
