On Wednesday morning, the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh witnessed a significant accumulation of vehicles, involving at least 20 of them, attributed to dense fog in the Delhi-NCR region. The Yamuna Expressway, stretching from Greater Noida to Agra, experienced challenging visibility conditions due to the prevalent fog, resulting in a substantial vehicular pile-up.
The fog, characterized by its density, enveloped Delhi-NCR and the neighboring areas, leading to reduced visibility levels, and in certain areas, visibility dropped to zero. Responding to the situation, the Greater Noida police were deployed to the scene to manage and address the aftermath of the pile-up.
Simultaneously, adverse weather conditions in Delhi caused disruptions, affecting a total of 110 flights and 25 trains during the morning hours. The Flight Information Display System (FIDS) at Delhi Airport reported delays impacting both domestic and international flights due to the dense fog.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Delhi anticipated that the national capital might experience clear skies. However, relief from the dense fog was not expected until December 29 (Friday). The prevailing weather conditions were considered highly conducive to the formation of fog, as indicated by the RMC.
