Expelled from Jammu and Kashmir for inciting people to establish Islamic rule

On Wednesday, the government officially designated the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction) (MLJK-MA) as an 'Unlawful Association' under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA). Home Minister Amit Shah declared this move, citing the involvement of the outfit in activities deemed anti-national.

Amit Shah asserted that members of the MLJK-MA were engaged in anti-national and secessionist activities, promoting the establishment of an Islamic rule in Jammu and Kashmir. The official notification stated that the MLJK-MA, led by Masarat Alam Bhat, is recognized for its anti-India and pro-Pakistan propaganda. The outfit's objectives include achieving the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir from India, merging with Pakistan, and establishing an Islamic State in the region.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the members of the organization were found raising funds through various channels, including Pakistan and its proxy organizations, to support unlawful activities. The outfit has also been implicated in backing terrorist activities and orchestrating sustained stone-pelting incidents on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

The MHA contended that the leaders and members of MLJK-MA have been participating in unlawful activities detrimental to the integrity, sovereignty, security, and communal harmony of the country. In light of these findings, the government invoked its powers under the UAPA to declare MLJK-MA an "unlawful association."

Amit Shah conveyed a clear message, asserting that the Modi government is resolute in its stance that anyone acting against the unity, sovereignty, and integrity of the nation will face the full force of the law.
