BJP MLA Kailash Vijayvargiya asserted on Saturday that the Parliament security breach, characterized by him as a "small issue," was being intentionally magnified by the Opposition to divert attention from the significant cash haul discovered during raids at the premises of Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu, marking the 'biggest ever' such seizure.
Describing the security breach as a minor matter, Vijayvargiya contended that the Opposition's amplification of the issue was a deliberate strategy to overshadow the unearthing of unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 400 crore from the residence of Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu. Emphasizing that Congress was attempting to divert attention, he highlighted the absence of satisfactory explanations regarding the massive cash discovery.
The BJP MLA went on to state that the investigation into the matter was underway, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had assured a thorough examination. Despite these reassurances, Vijayvargiya suggested that the Opposition's disruption in Parliament indicated less-than-noble intentions on their part.
The Income Tax searches, initiated on December 6 against Boudh Distillery Pvt Ltd and associated entities owned by Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu's family, extended across Odisha and Jharkhand. The searches resulted in the unprecedented discovery of cash amounting to Rs 353.5 crore, representing the largest single seizure by any investigative agency in India.
Videos depicting the substantial cash recovery, featuring almirahs brimming with currency notes, have become a focal point for the BJP's accusations of corruption against the Congress. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also seized the opportunity to take a dig at the party, employing a reference to the popular TV series 'Money Heist' in his remarks.
