Designated as the new commander of the Eastern Army is Lieutenant General RC Tiwari


Lieutenant General RC Tiwari has been designated as the incoming Eastern Army Commander, succeeding the current incumbent, Lieutenant General RP Kalita, who is set to retire on December 31.

Currently leading the Uttar Bharat Area and having previously commanded the 3 Corps, Lieutenant General Tiwari, an Infantry Officer commissioned in the Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army in 1987, has been chosen for this prestigious role. This information was communicated by PRO (Defence) Kohima Lieutenant Colonel Sumit K Sharma in an official release.

Lieutenant General Tiwari boasts an impressive educational background, being an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, the Defence Services Staff College, the College of Defence Management, and the National Defence College. Throughout his military career, he has undertaken various significant command and staff responsibilities, contributing to both conventional and counter-insurgency operations within India and internationally.

His diverse experience includes the command of an infantry battalion in Counter Insurgency Operations, leading a Mountain Brigade in High Altitude, and overseeing the Black Cat Division as General Officer Commanding. Before assuming his latest appointment, Lieutenant General RC Tiwari served as the Chief of Staff at Headquarters South Western Command in Jaipur.
