Trinamool spokesperson Abhishek Banerjee will succeed aunt Mamata as chief minister

Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Kunal Ghosh, while addressing the media in Chuchura, Hooghly district, asserted that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will persist in her role until 2036, and subsequently, her nephew Abhishek Banerjee will take over as Chief Minister. Ghosh made these statements to quash any speculations about internal discord within the TMC and emphasized the unity of the party.

Ghosh clarified that under Mamata Banerjee's leadership, the TMC will contest elections, and Abhishek Banerjee will assume a general role. He outlined the party's plan for Mamata Banerjee's continued service until 2036, after which Abhishek Banerjee will step into the position of Chief Minister.

In a scathing critique of the opposition, Ghosh dismissed the aspirations of those aiming to capture West Bengal, asserting that the TMC stands as a unified force against disruptive elements. He challenged the BJP to determine its leader for the battle ahead, whether it be Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, Sukanta Majumder, or Dilip Ghosh, emphasizing that the TMC will present a united front.

Ghosh's remarks come amid ongoing discussions on the 'young generation of politicians vs old guard' in West Bengal's political landscape. The discourse gained momentum when TMC's General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee expressed his belief in an upper age limit in politics. However, he later clarified the importance of veterans and seniors due to their valuable experience.

In response to Abhishek Banerjee's comments, Mamata Banerjee asserted that age is not a barrier within the party and urged the younger generation to respect their elders. She called for mutual respect between the different age groups within the TMC, dispelling notions of discord between veterans (loyal to CM Banerjee) and younger members (believed to be close to Abhishek Banerjee). Mamata Banerjee, speaking at a TMC administrative meeting, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration, stating that as long as they are alive, they will fight together like the royal Bengal tiger.
