Elon Musk's mother calls Biden "furious" after Starlink loses a significant government subsidy

Maye Musk, the mother of billionaire Elon Musk, expressed strong criticism towards U.S. President Joe Biden, asserting that his administration unfairly targeted her son and his company. Her comments followed the decision of the U.S. communication regulator not to approve nearly $900 million in government subsidies earmarked for Musk's Starlink project.

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Maye Musk, a seasoned model and author, identified herself as Elon Musk's mother and conveyed her displeasure at what she perceives as President Biden's attempts to hinder her son's efforts to contribute positively to the world. She questioned the motivations behind Biden's actions and expressed frustration at how people in other countries admire Elon Musk while struggling to understand the motives of the U.S. President.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) reaffirmed its 2022 ruling on Tuesday, reiterating the denial of approximately $900 million in rural broadband subsidies intended for Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet project, managed by SpaceX.

Following this decision, FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr took to X, recalling President Biden's acknowledgment of Elon Musk and stating that various governmental entities, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Federal Trade Commission (FTC), National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Southern District of New York (SDNY), and Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), have all taken actions against Musk or his ventures. Maye Musk responded to Carr's post, voicing her discontent.

The FCC justified its ruling by citing Starlink's alleged failure to meet essential program requirements and an inability to demonstrate its capability to deliver the promised service. SpaceX's challenge to the 2022 decision was also addressed, with the FCC pointing to concerns about the uncertain nature of future Starship rocket launches, suggesting potential impacts on Starlink's ability to fulfill its obligations.
