Congress leader Milind Deora expressed gratitude on Sunday to the party's leadership, specifically acknowledging Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, general secretary KC Venugopal, and the Gandhi family for appointing him as the Joint Treasurer of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). In a statement shared on a social media platform, Deora conveyed his appreciation, highlighting the acknowledgment of his strengths and talents, terming it "encouraging."
Deora's message on platform X read, "I am grateful to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and KC Venugopal for appointing me AICC's Joint Treasurer."
He further elaborated, "My late father and I have dedicated ourselves to nurturing soft powers, including cultivating relationships with industry on behalf of the party. I’m thankful to my friends from industry and political circles for their kind wishes. It's encouraging to finally be recognized for one's strengths and talent."
This expression of gratitude comes in the wake of a significant organizational reshuffle announced by the Congress on Saturday in anticipation of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Notable changes included Avinash Pande taking over the role of Congress General Secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh from Priyanka Gandhi. Sachin Pilot was appointed as the AICC General Secretary in charge of Chhattisgarh, succeeding Kumari Selja. Jairam Ramesh assumed the position of General Secretary in charge of communication, while KC Venugopal retained the role of General Secretary in charge of the organization. Ajay Maken continued in his position as the treasurer of AICC.
The reshuffle, coming in the aftermath of the Congress's performance in recent assembly elections, is perceived as a strategic move to revitalize the party ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled before May 2024.
