India Today has named PM Modi the Newsmaker of the Year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been recognized as India Today's standout figure of the year 2023. PM Modi, a prominent figure both nationally and internationally, has commanded considerable attention throughout this year.

Expressing gratitude for being named the Newsmaker of the Year 2023 by India Today, PM Modi acknowledged that, in his view, numerous individuals also deserved recognition as noteworthy newsmakers in the same period.

In an exclusive conversation with India Today, PM Modi identified farmers, artisans, sportspeople, and the general populace of the nation as equally significant contributors to the news cycle this year.

Reflecting on this, PM Modi emphasized the diverse spectrum of contributors who have made headlines in the past year. This encompassed the agricultural community, notably the farmers leading in record-breaking agricultural production, spearheading a global revolution in millet cultivation. He also acknowledged the populace's pivotal role in the success of the G20 summit. Furthermore, he highlighted the artisans (Vishwakarma) who are carving a path to success through their exceptional skills, along with the athletes who brought pride to the nation at various sports events, including the Asian Games and Asian Para Games.

In his assessment, PM Modi underscored the pivotal role played by the nation's youth and women in shaping the narrative of 'Naya Bharat' (New India).

He emphasized the youth's achievements, from setting new benchmarks in fields like start-ups and science to the women's empowerment movement, symbolized by 'Nari Shakti,' which is breaking barriers and excelling across sectors.

PM Modi's leadership guided India to remarkable heights amid a tumultuous global landscape marked by significant crises such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Israel-Hamas tensions, the enduring impact of COVID-19, and a global economic slowdown. India not only excelled beyond expectations but also stood as a beacon of hope amidst these challenges.

Under PM Modi's guidance, India continued its path of reform. Parliament's approval of the 33% women's reservation bill in September was a notable milestone. Additionally, the government undertook significant reforms in criminal laws in December, replacing outdated British-era laws with more relevant statutes suited to contemporary times.
