Social media influencer Oye Indori, hailing from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, finds himself facing a rape charge for allegedly sexually harassing a divorced woman under the guise of a false promise of marriage. The police disclosed this development on Thursday, revealing that the accused, Robin Agarwal, widely recognized as Oye Indori, has been accused of engaging in a prolonged period of physical exploitation of the divorced woman while deceitfully pledging matrimonial commitment.
With a substantial online presence, the accused boasts a considerable following of over 7.4 million on Instagram and more than 7.88 million subscribers on YouTube. The rape case has been officially registered against the influencer following a complaint filed by the victim, who is employed in a private company. Presently, the accused is reportedly evading law enforcement.
According to Sachin Arya, the investigating officer, the complainant, a woman working in a private company, and the accused, Robin Agarwal, had developed a friendship while residing in the same locality. Allegedly, the accused gradually exploited the woman physically over an extended period, all while assuring her of his intent to marry her.
The narrative takes a distressing turn as the woman initially approached the police in March of the current year, accusing the accused of rape. Subsequently, in an attempt to appease the situation, the accused purportedly agreed to marry the woman. However, despite this agreement, he continued to subject her to sexual exploitation without fulfilling his promise of marriage, as disclosed by an official involved in the case.
Driven by her grievances, the woman recently filed a fresh complaint, prompting the initiation of legal proceedings against the accused following a preliminary investigation. The accused's evasion of authorities adds a layer of complexity to the case, with law enforcement actively working to apprehend Oye Indori and address the serious allegations brought forth by the aggrieved woman.
