A significant controversy unfolded following the circulation of a video featuring social media influencer and Curly Tales founder, Kamiya Jani, engaging in a conversation with bureaucrat-turned-BJD leader VK Pandian on the premises of the Jagannath temple. This event prompted a response from the Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), expressing concern over how Kamiya Jani, allegedly known for promoting beef consumption, was granted access to the revered shrine in Puri.
The controversy gained momentum when the Odisha BJP raised objections, asserting that the incident had offended the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus, deeming the broadcasting of the video from the temple premises as "unacceptable." Specifically, the party questioned the decision to allow someone with a purported association with beef promotion into such a sacred site.
In response to the situation, the BJP in Odisha demanded immediate action, urging the registration of a case against both VK Pandian and Kamiya Jani under IPC Section 295 A. The party emphasized the need for their swift arrest in light of what they perceived as a disregard for the sacred sanctity of the Puri Srimandir.
Accusing VK Pandian, the chairman of 5T, of allowing a purported "beef promoter" into the revered premises of Jagannath Mandir, the Odisha BJP took to its official social media handle to express discontent. The party asserted that the actions of those involved showcased indifference to the sentiments of the Odia people and the sanctity of Jagannath Culture, calling for severe consequences.
As part of their response, the party also shared a screenshot from one of Kamiya Jani's previous videos where she is seen promoting "beef dishes," further reinforcing their objection to her presence at the sacred site.
In light of the controversy, Kamiya Jani felt compelled to issue a clarification on the matter through her Instagram story. She emphasized her commitment to promoting Indian culture and heritage globally, citing her visits to various Jyotirlingas and char dams of India. Jani categorically denied ever consuming beef and expressed her dedication to upholding the sanctity of the Jagannath temple, signing off with a resounding "Jai Jagannath."
