During the extensive three-hour-long meeting of INDIA bloc leaders on Tuesday, Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar found himself in a moment of frustration when Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader TR Baalu requested a translation of Nitish Kumar's Hindi speech. This incident unfolded in the presence of DMK supremo M K Stalin and TR Baalu.
Facing difficulty in comprehending Nitish Kumar's speech, TR Baalu signaled to Rashtriya Janata Dal Rajya Sabha MP Manoj K. Jha, who was seated on the opposite side, asking if he could provide a translation. Seeking permission from Nitish Kumar, Manoj Jha approached the Chief Minister. However, Nitish Kumar responded with a sharp rebuke, emphasizing that Hindi is the national language of Hindustan (India), and it is expected that everyone present should have a command of the language.
In light of this, Nitish Kumar firmly declared that there was no need for a translation and directed Manoj Jha not to proceed with it.
The INDIA bloc parties convened for their fourth meeting in Delhi on Tuesday, addressing crucial matters such as seat-sharing and campaign strategies for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The incident involving Nitish Kumar's reaction to the translation request added a moment of tension to the proceedings, reflecting the diverse linguistic landscape and sensitivities within the bloc.
